• தமிழ்நாடு குடிநீர் வடிகால் வாரியம் தமிழக அரசின் கட்டுப்பாட்டில் கீழ் செயல்பட்டு வரும் ஒரு அரசு நிறுவனம் ஆகும். இந்நிறுவனம் தமிழ்நாடு குடிநீர் வடிகால் வாரியச் சட்டம், 1970ன் கீழ் 14-04-1971 ல் அமைக்ககப்பட்டது. 
• தமிழ் நாட்டில் உள்ள அனைத்துப் பகுதிகளுக்கும் (சென்னைப் பெருநகர் வளர்ச்சி நிறுவனத்திற்கு உட்பட்ட பகுதிகள் நீங்கலாக) பாதுகாக்கப்பட்ட குடிநீர் வழங்கல் மற்றும் கழிவு நீரேற்றும் பணிகளை தமிழ்நாடு குடிநீர் வடிகால் வாரியம் செயல்படுத்தி வருகிறது.
• TWAD வாரியம் இந்திய அரசின் ஊரக வளர்ச்சி அமைச்சகம் மற்றும் குடிநீர் வழங்கல் துறைகள், நீர்வள அமைச்சகம், தேசிய நதி பாதுகாப்பு இயக்ககம், ராஜீவ் காந்தி தேசிய குடிநீர் இயக்கம், மத்திய நிலத்தடி நீர் வாரியம், அரசு சாரா நிறுவனங்கள் (NGOக்கள்), கல்வி நிறுவனங்களுடன் ஒருங்கிணைக்கிறது. தமிழகத்தில் குடிநீர் மற்றும் பாதாள சாக்கடை திட்டங்களை செயல்படுத்த வேண்டும்

செயல்பாடுகள்

• மாநில அரசாங்கத்தின் வழிகாட்டுதலின் பேரில் உள்ளாட்சி அதிகாரப் பகுதியில் உள்ள எந்தவொரு தொழிற்சாலைகள் அல்லது நிறுவனங்களின் தேவைகளைப் பூர்த்தி செய்வதற்காக, நீர்வழங்கல் மற்றும் கழிவுநீர் வசதிகளை வழங்குவதற்கான எந்தவொரு திட்டத்தையும் TWAD வாரியம் விசாரணை, செயல்படுத்துதல் மற்றும் பராமரிப்பு ஆகியவற்றை மேற்கொள்கிறது.
• TWAD வாரியத்தால் மேற்கொள்ளப்படும் நீர் வழங்கல் மற்றும் பாதாளச் சாக்கடைத் திட்டங்கள் முடிந்தவுடன் பராமரிப்புக்காக அந்தந்த உள்ளாட்சி அமைப்புகளிடம் ஒப்படைக்கப்படுகின்றன. 
• எவ்வாறாயினும், ஒன்றுக்கு மேற்பட்ட உள்ளாட்சி அமைப்புகளை உள்ளடக்கிய ஒருங்கிணைந்த இயற்கையின் திட்டங்கள் TWAD வாரியத்தால் பராமரிக்கப்படுகின்றன.

• The Tamil Nadu Drinking Water and Drainage Board is a government agency functioning under the control of the Government of Tamil Nadu. 
• The Corporation was incorporated on 14-04-1971 under the Tamil Nadu Drinking Water and Drainage Board Act, 1970. 
• The Tamil Nadu Drinking Water and Drainage Board is implementing protected drinking water supply and sewage treatment works for all areas in Tamil Nadu (except areas under Chennai Metropolitan Development Corporation).
• TWAD Board coordinates with the Government of India's Ministry of Rural Development and Departments of Drinking Water Supply, Ministry of Water Resources, National River Conservation Directorate, Rajiv Gandhi National Drinking Water Mission, Central Ground Water Board, Non Government Organizations (NGOs), academic institutions, etc., to implement the water supply and sewerage schemes in Tamilnadu

Functions

• TWAD Board undertakes investigation, execution and maintenance of any scheme for the provision of watersupply and sewerage facilities, to meet the needs of any industries or institutions within the area of the local authority on the direction of state Government.
• The water supply and sewerage schemes undertaken by TWAD Board are handed over to the respective local bodies for maintenance on completion. 
• However schemes of composite nature covering more than one local body are maintained by TWAD Board.
