- வழக்குமன்ற மொழியாகத் தமிழ்மொழியே இருக்கவேண்டும் என்பதுதான் அண்ணாவின் கொள்கை. அதற்குரிய தகுதியை தமிழ் பெற்றிருக்கிறதா என்று கேட்டவர்களுக்கு, “தமிழில்தானே வாதாடினால் கண்ணகி? அவள் கூறிய வாதங்களை ஆங்கில மொழியால் அல்ல, வேறு எந்த மொழியாலும் அளிக்க முடியாது” என்று பதிலளித்தார் அண்ணா.
- 1967-ம் ஆண்டு அண்ணா முதலமைச்சரானதும், நீதியரசர் அனந்தநாராயணன் தலைமையில், சட்டத் தொகுப்புகளைத் தமிழில் மொழி பெயர்ப்பதற்காகக் குழு ஒன்றை நியமித்தார்.
- இதன் பிறகு, 1968-ம் ஆண்டு டிசம்பர் 7-ம் நாள் முதலாவது சட்ட அகராதி, அண்ணா அவர்களால் வெளியிடப்பட்டது. நீதியரசர் அனந்தநாராயணன் தலைமையிலான குழு, சட்டத் தொகுப்புகள் பலவற்றையும் தமிழில் மொழிபெயர்த்து வெளியிட்டது.
- 1968 டிசம்பர் 12-ம் நாள் முதல், மாநில போக்குவரத்து மேல்முறையீட்டுத் தீர்ப்பாய அலுவலகம் தமிழில் செயல்படத் தொடங்கியது.
- 1970 ஜனவரி 14ம் நாள் முதல், உயர்நீதிமன்றத்துக்குச் சார்நிலையில் இயங்கிவரும் உரிமையியல் நீதிமன்றங்கள், குற்றவியல் நீதிமன்றங்கள், தீர்ப்பாயங்கள் ஆகியன சாட்சியங்களைத் தமிழில் பதிவு செய்துகொள்ளத் தொடங்கின.
- பின்னர், மேற்கூறிய நீதிமன்றங்களில் ஏப்ரல் 13-ம் நாள் முதல், தமிழில் தீர்ப்புகள் வழங்குவதற்கும் வகைச் செய்யப்பட்டது. திமுக ஆட்சியில் இருந்தபோது உயர்நீதிமன்ற மொழியாகத் தமிழ் ஆக்கப்படவேண்டும் என்பதற்காகக் கலைஞர் பல்வேறு நடவடிக்கைகளை எடுத்தார்.
- 2006-ம் ஆண்டு டிசம்பர் 6-ம் நாள், இந்தக் கோரிகையை வலியுறுத்தி தமிழகச் சட்டப் பேரவையில் தீர்மானம் நிறைவேற்றப்பட்டது. தங்களது கோரிக்கையை நிறைவேற்றுமாறு முதலமைச்சர் கலைஞர், பிரதமருக்கு கடிதம் எழுதினார்.
- Anna's policy is that Tamil should be the court language. To those who asked if Tamil has the appropriate qualifications, he replied, "If you argue in Tamil alone, is it okay? Anna replied that her arguments could not be presented in English, not in any other language.
- When Anna became the Chief Minister in 1967, he appointed a committee headed by Justice Ananthanarayan to translate the legal texts into Tamil. After this, on 7th December 1968, the first law dictionary was published by Anna.
- A committee headed by Justice Ananthanarayanan also translated and published several legal collections in Tamil.
- From 12th December 1968, the State Transport Appellate Tribunal office started functioning in Tamil. From January 14, 1970, law courts, criminal courts and tribunals operating under the High Court started recording evidence in Tamil.
- Later, from April 13, judgments in Tamil were also made available in the said courts. When DMK was in power, the artist took various steps to make Tamil the language of the High Court. On December 6, 2006, a resolution was passed in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly emphasizing this demand. Chief Minister Kalain wrote to the Prime Minister to fulfill their demand.
