INCOME TAX DAY 2023 OR AAYKAR DIWAS 2023 - 24th JULY / ஜூலை 24 - வருமான வரி தினம் 2023 அல்லது ஆய்கார் திவாஸ் 2023: ஜூலை 24, 1860 இல், இந்தியாவில் வருமான வரி அறிமுகப்படுத்தப்பட்டது. முதல் வருமான வரி தினம் ஜூலை 24, 2010 அன்று கொண்டாடப்பட்டது.

INCOME TAX DAY 2023 OR AAYKAR DIWAS 2023 - 24th JULY / ஜூலை 24 - வருமான வரி தினம் 2023 அல்லது ஆய்கார் திவாஸ் 2023: ஜூலை 24, 1860 இல், சர் ஜேம்ஸ் வில்சன் இந்தியாவில் முதல் முறையாக வருமான வரியை அறிமுகப்படுத்தினார். 

1857 இல் நடந்த முதல் சுதந்திரப் போரின்போது பிரிட்டிஷ் ஆட்சியால் ஏற்பட்ட இழப்புகளை ஈடுசெய்ய வில்சன் இதைச் செய்தார். இந்தியாவில் 150 ஆண்டுகால வருமான வரியைக் குறிக்கும் வகையில், ஜூலை 24, 2010 அன்று முதல் முறையாக ‘ஆய்கர் திவாஸ்’ கொண்டாடப்பட்டது.

“வருமான வரி முதன்முதலில் 1860 ஆம் ஆண்டு வரியாக விதிக்கப்பட்டது மற்றும் அந்த வரியை விதிக்கும் அதிகாரம் அந்த ஆண்டு ஜூலை 24 ஆம் தேதி அமலுக்கு வந்ததால், இந்த நாளை வருமான வரி முதலீட்டு தினமாக கொண்டாட முன்மொழியப்பட்டது,” என்று நிதி அமைச்சக அதிகாரி ஒருவர் தெரிவித்தார்.

INCOME TAX DAY 2023 OR AAYKAR DIWAS 2023 - 24th JULY: On July 24, 1860, income tax was introduced in India. The first Income Tax Day was celebrated on July 24, 2010. The Income Tax department observes July 24 every year as Income Tax Day or ‘Aaykar Diwas’, to commemorate the introduction of provision of income tax in the country.

INCOME TAX DAY 2023 OR AAYKAR DIWAS 2023 - 24th JULY: On July 24, 1860, Sir James Wilson introduced income tax for the first time in India. Wilson did this to compensate for the losses suffered by the British regime during the first war of independence in 1857.

‘Aaykar Diwas’ was celebrated for the first time on July 24, 2010, to mark 150 years of income tax in India.

“Since income tax was first levied as a duty in the year 1860 and the authority to levy that duty came into force on July 24 of that year, it is proposed to celebrate this day as Income Tax Investiture Day,” a finance ministry official said in July 2010.

Outreach programmes are held across the country to promote tax payment as a value norm, and to sensitise potential taxpayers that paying taxes is an ethical duty of the citizens.
