INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY 2023 - 8TH SEPTEMBER / சர்வதேச எழுத்தறிவு தினம் 2023 - செப்டம்பர் 8: சர்வதேச எழுத்தறிவு தினம் (ILD) ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் செப்டம்பர் 8 அன்று உலக எழுத்தறிவு விகிதத்தில் முன்னேற்றம் குறித்து கவனத்தை ஈர்க்கும் வகையில் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. 

உலகெங்கிலும் உள்ள அரசாங்கங்கள், சிவில் சமூகம் மற்றும் பங்குதாரர்கள் தங்களுக்கு முன்னால் இருக்கும் உலகின் எழுத்தறிவு சவால்களைப் பற்றி சிந்திக்க வேண்டிய நேரம் இது. 

2023 ஆம் ஆண்டில், ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் போலவே செப்டம்பர் 8 ஆம் தேதி சர்வதேச எழுத்தறிவு தினம் கொண்டாடப்படும், அது வியாழக்கிழமை அன்று வரும். சர்வதேச எழுத்தறிவு தினம் முதன்முதலில் 1966 இல் கொண்டாடப்பட்டது.

இந்த யோசனை பல நிறுவனங்கள் மற்றும் நாடுகளை பாதித்தது, இறுதியாக, யுனெஸ்கோவின் பொது மாநாட்டில், அவர்கள் செப்டம்பர் 8 ஆம் தேதியை சர்வதேச எழுத்தறிவு தினமாக அங்கீகரிக்க ஒரு தீர்மானத்தை நிறைவேற்றினர்.

INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY 2023 - 8TH SEPTEMBER / சர்வதேச எழுத்தறிவு தினம் 2023 - செப்டம்பர் 8: 1967ஆம் ஆண்டுக்கு முன்பிருந்த ஆண், பெண் கல்வியறிவையும் இன்றைய நிலையையும் ஒப்பிட்டுப் பார்த்தால் இந்நாளின் முக்கியத்துவம் விளங்கும். 

1960 களில், ஆண் மற்றும் பெண் இருபாலரின் கல்வியறிவு விகிதம் வெறும் 42% ஆக இருந்தது. 1967க்குப் பிறகு ஒவ்வொரு ஐந்து வருடங்களுக்கும் 4% கல்வியறிவு அதிகரித்தது, இன்று கல்வியறிவு விகிதம் 87% ஆக உள்ளது.

சர்வதேச எழுத்தறிவு தினம் என்பது கல்வி மற்றும் வாழ்நாள் முழுவதும் கற்றலில் நிலையான வளர்ச்சி இலக்கு 4 (SDG4) இன் சாதனையை நோக்கி முன்னேறுவதற்கான முயற்சிகளில் இணைவதற்கான ஒரு வாய்ப்பாகும் .

INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY 2023 - 8TH SEPTEMBER: The International Literacy Day (ILD) is celebrated every year on 8 September to draw attention to improvements in world literacy rates. This is also the time for governments across the world, civil society and stakeholders to reflect upon the world's literacy challenges that lie before them. 

In 2023, the International Literacy Day will be celebrated on 8 September, like every year and it will fall on a Thursday. The International Literacy Day was first held in 1966.

History

INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY 2023 - 8TH SEPTEMBER: Everything we see began with a cause and did the celebration of International Literacy Day. The Ministers of Education, in a world conference led in Tehran, came up with the concept of World Literacy Day back in 1965.

This idea influenced many organizations and countries, and finally, in a General Conference of UNESCO, they passed a resolution to recognize 8th September as International Literacy Day, as you know today. 

The resolution of 1966 continued, and the celebration beginning in 1967 took place every day on the same date. It has helped to improve the quality, accessibility, and affordability of education for many.

Importance

INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY 2023 - 8TH SEPTEMBER: The importance of this day is understood by comparing the literacy of males and females before 1967 and what it is today. In the 1960s, the literacy rate of both males and females was merely 42%. 

After 1967 literacy grew by around 4% every five years, and today the literacy rate is around 87%. You can see the drastic change over the years. This increase was slow but changed the face of the current world. 

The responsibility lies not only with the big organization but with us, the world’s citizens as well. The celebration of literacy day is a means to remind everyone of the importance of literacy to build a stronger and faster world capable of making changes. With different themes every year on this day, a new goal and message are sent to everybody.

International Literacy Day Theme 2023

INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY 2023 - 8TH SEPTEMBER: International Literacy Day Theme 2023 is ‘Promoting literacy for a world in transition: Building the foundation for sustainable and peaceful societies’.   

International Literacy Day will be an opportunity to join efforts to accelerate progress towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4) on education and lifelong learning and to reflect on the role of literacy in building more inclusive, peaceful, just, and sustainable societies.
