WORLD FIRST AID DAY 2023 - 9TH SEPTEMBER / உலக முதலுதவி தினம் 2023 - செப்டம்பர் 9: உலக முதலுதவி தினத்தின் வரலாறு 1859 ஆம் ஆண்டு சோல்பெரினோவில் நடந்த போரில் ஜெனீவாவைச் சேர்ந்த ஹென்றி டுனான்ட் என்ற இளம் தொழிலதிபர், மக்கள் படுகொலையால் திகிலடைந்து அதிர்ச்சியடைந்தார்.
பலத்த காயமடைந்த பலருக்கு உதவினார். இந்த சம்பவம் அவரை மிகவும் ஊக்கப்படுத்தியது, அவர் 'எ மெமரி ஆஃப் சோல்ஃபெரினோ' என்ற புத்தகத்தை எழுதினார்.
புத்தகத்தில், அவர் தனது அனுபவங்களைக் குறிப்பிட்டு, முதலுதவி கல்வி இல்லாததால் ஏற்படும் உயிரிழப்புகளைத் தடுக்க உடனடி முதல் உதவியை வழங்குவதற்காக, ஒரு இணை நிறுவனராக சர்வதேச செஞ்சிலுவைச் சங்கத்தை (ICRC) உருவாக்கினார்.

It’s an annual campaign that promotes first aid training to save lives all around the globe. Now and then people all around the globe face a time when they might need to perform first aid. The day is eminent to show the importance of first aid and create awareness.
HISTORY OF WORLD FIRST AID DAY
WORLD FIRST AID DAY 2023 - 9TH SEPTEMBER: World First Aid Day's history dates back to the battle of Solferino in 1859 in which a young businessman, Henry Dunant, from Geneva was horrified and shocked by the mass massacre of people.
He helped many severely injured people. This incident inspired him so much that he wrote a book titled as 'A Memory of Solferino'. In the book, he mentioned his experiences and finally formed the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), as a co-founder, to provide immediate first-hand care to prevent loss of lives due to lack of first-aid education.
In the year 2000, IFRC officially declared the second Saturday of September as the World First Aid Day.
SIGNIFICANCE OF WORLD FIRST AID DAY
WORLD FIRST AID DAY 2023 - 9TH SEPTEMBER: Every year, World First Aid Day is recognized to create awareness and emphasize the value of first aid as an act of humanitarian empowerment and as a fundamental part of a broader resilience approach.
It is an opportunity to improve people's perceptions of first aid and make first-aid education accessible to the public. This year, the World First Aid Day event will be coordinated by the Global First Aid Reference Centre, which will also provide necessary resources to the National Societies.
According to IFRC, every year, the IFRC and its National Societies reach more than 50 million people with awareness activities promoting and celebrating the power of first aid.
