உலக தொழுநோய் தினம் 2024 / World Leprosy Day 2024: உலக தொழுநோய் தினம் ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் ஜனவரி மாதத்தின் கடைசி ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமை அனுசரிக்கப்படுகிறது. இந்தியாவில், ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் ஜனவரி 30 ஆம் தேதி, மகாத்மா காந்தியின் நினைவு தினத்தை ஒட்டி அனுசரிக்கப்படுகிறது.

தொழுநோய் என்பது புறக்கணிக்கப்பட்ட வெப்பமண்டல நோயாகும் (NTD), இது இன்னும் 120 க்கும் மேற்பட்ட நாடுகளில் நிகழ்கிறது, ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் 200 000 க்கும் மேற்பட்ட புதிய வழக்குகள் பதிவாகின்றன.

2023 உலக தொழுநோய் தினத்தின் கருப்பொருள் “இப்போதே செயல்படுங்கள். தொழுநோய்க்கு முடிவு கட்டுங்கள். இந்த வருடத்தின் கருப்பொருள் மூன்று முக்கிய செய்திகளுக்கு கவனம் செலுத்துகிறது:

ஒழிப்பு சாத்தியம்: பரவுவதை நிறுத்தவும், இந்த நோயைத் தோற்கடிக்கவும் எங்களிடம் சக்தியும் கருவிகளும் உள்ளன.

இப்போதே செயல்படுங்கள்: தொழுநோயை முடிவுக்குக் கொண்டுவர எங்களுக்கு வளங்களும் அர்ப்பணிப்பும் தேவை. தொழுநோய் ஒழிப்புக்கு முன்னுரிமை கொடுங்கள்.

World Leprosy Day 2024: World Leprosy Day is observed every year on the last Sunday of January. In India, it is observed on 30th January every year, coinciding with the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Leprosy is a neglected tropical disease (NTD) which still occurs in more than 120 countries, with more than 200 000 new cases reported every year.

The aim of observing the World Leprosy Day is to create awareness against the stigma attached to the disease, by making the general community aware that it is a disease spread by a type of bacteria and it can be easily cured.

World Leprosy Day 2024: World Leprosy Day (WLD) 2024 Theme is “Beat Leprosy”. This theme encapsulates the dual objectives of the day: to eradicate the stigma associated with leprosy and to promote the dignity of people affected by the disease.

World Leprosy Day 2024: In 2023, World Leprosy Day is Sunday 29 January. This international day is an opportunity to celebrate people who have experienced leprosy, raise awareness of the disease, and call for an end to leprosy-related stigma and discrimination.

The theme of World Leprosy Day 2023 is “Act Now. End Leprosy.” This year's theme calls attention to three key messages. Elimination is possible: We have the power and tools to stop transmission and defeat this disease.

Act now: We need the resources and commitment to end leprosy. Prioritize leprosy elimination. Reach the unreached: Leprosy is preventable and treatable. Suffering from leprosy is needless.
