There are 23 IITs operating across the country. IIT Chennai has been ranked first in the ranking list published by the National Education Center Ranking Framework (NIRF). Foreign Minister Jaishankar has gone on a four-day tour to Tanzania.
There, the agreement was signed in the presence of President Hussain Ali Muvinyi and Indian Foreign Minister Jaishankar in the Tanzanian island country of Zanzibar. This complex reflects the long-standing friendship between India and Tanzania.
It is a reminder of India's focus on building rapport with people in Africa and the Global South. According to the agreement, the academic programs, curricula, student selection features and teaching details of the IIT to be set up in Tanzania will be carried out by IIT Chennai.
The students studying here will also be awarded a degree by IIT Chennai. The expenses for this will be borne by the Government of Zanzibar - Tanzania.
