மன்னார் சுற்றுச்சூழல் சுற்றுலாத் திட்டம், சுற்றுப்பயணங்களை உருவாக்குவதன் மூலம் உள்ளூர் சமூகத்திற்கு அதன் பொருளாதார பங்களிப்பிற்காக மட்டுமல்லாமல், பிராந்தியத்தின் தனித்துவமான சுற்றுச்சூழல் அமைப்பைப் பாதுகாக்கவும், சுற்றுச்சூழல் பாதுகாப்பை மேம்படுத்தவும், வேலைவாய்ப்பை உருவாக்கவும் அதன் முயற்சிகளுக்காகவும் அங்கீகரிக்கப்பட்டது.
இத்தகைய உன்னத முயற்சிகளுக்காக ஜப்பான் நாட்டின் 7வது ஜப்பான் சுற்றுலா விருது வழங்கும் விழாவில் செயற்குழுவின் விருதிற்கு இத்திட்டம் தேர்வு செய்யப்பட்டது.
ஜப்பான் நாட்டின் ஒசாகா நகரில் நேற்று நடந்த 7வது ஜப்பான் சுற்றுலா விருது வழங்கும் விழாவில், ஜப்பான் சுற்றுலா கண்காட்சி செயற்குழுவின் தலைவர் ஹிரோயுகி தகாஹாஷி தமிழ்நாட்டின் மன்னார் சுற்றுச்சூழல் சுற்றுலாத் திட்டத்திற்காக வழங்கிய செயற்குழுவின் விருதினை சுற்றுலாத்துறை அமைச்சர் ராமச்சந்திரன் பெற்றுக்கொண்டார். நிகழ்ச்சியில் சுற்றுலா, பண்பாடு மற்றும் அறநிலையங்கள் துறை செயலாளர் மணிவாசன் கலந்து கொண்டார்.

Eco-tourism destinations have been set up using the contribution of the local people and utilizing the abundant natural resources of the region. The Mannar Ecotourism Project was recognized not only for its economic contribution to the local community by generating tours, but also for its efforts to preserve the region's unique ecosystem, promote environmental protection and create employment.
For such noble efforts, the project was selected for the Executive Committee Award at the 7th Japan Tourism Awards Ceremony. Tourism Minister Ramachandran received the Executive Committee Award presented by Hiroyuki Takahashi, Chairman of the Japan Tourism Exhibition Executive Committee, for the Mannar Eco-Tourism Project of Tamil Nadu at the 7th Japan Tourism Awards ceremony held yesterday in Osaka, Japan. Manivasan, Secretary, Department of Tourism, Culture and Charitable Institutions attended the event.
