WORLD DEVELOPMENT INFORMATION DAY 2023 - 24TH OCTOBER / உலக வளர்ச்சித் தகவல் தினம் 2023 - 24 அக்டோபர்: உலக வளர்ச்சி தகவல் தினம் (WDID) ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் அக்டோபர் 24 அன்று கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. 

வளர்ச்சிப் பிரச்சனைகள் மற்றும் அவற்றின் தீர்வுகளுக்கு சர்வதேச ஒத்துழைப்பை வலுப்படுத்த வேண்டியதன் அவசியத்தை உலகத்தின் கவனத்தை ஈர்ப்பதே இந்நாளின் நோக்கமாகும். 

தகவல் பரவலை மேம்படுத்துதல் மற்றும் பொதுக் கருத்தைத் திரட்டுதல் ஆகியவை வளர்ச்சிப் பிரச்சனைகள், குறிப்பாக இளைஞர்களிடையே அதிக விழிப்புணர்வை ஏற்படுத்தும் என UNGA நம்புவதால் இந்த நாள் முக்கியத்துவம் வாய்ந்தது.

WORLD DEVELOPMENT INFORMATION DAY 2023 - 24TH OCTOBER / உலக வளர்ச்சித் தகவல் தினம் 2023 - 24 அக்டோபர்: மே 17, 1972 அன்று, வர்த்தகம் மற்றும் மேம்பாடு தொடர்பான ஐ.நா. மாநாட்டின் மூலம் தகவல் பரப்புதல் மற்றும் வர்த்தகம் மற்றும் மேம்பாட்டுப் பிரச்சனைகள் தொடர்பான பொதுக் கருத்தைத் திரட்டுவதற்கு முன்மொழியப்பட்ட நடவடிக்கைகள் தீர்மானம் 3038 (XXVII) என அறியப்பட்டது.

1972 ஆம் ஆண்டு அக்டோபர் 24 ஆம் தேதி உலக வளர்ச்சித் தகவல் தினத்தை நிறுவுவதற்கு ஐநா பொதுச் சபையால் இந்தத் தீர்மானம் நிறைவேற்றப்பட்டது.

1970 ஆம் ஆண்டு ஐக்கிய நாடுகளின் இரண்டாவது அபிவிருத்தி தசாப்தத்திற்கான ‘சர்வதேச அபிவிருத்தி உத்தி’ ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளப்பட்ட தேதியுடன் இந்த நாள் ஒத்துப்போகிறது.

ஐ.நா.வின் பணிகளில் வளர்ச்சியின் மையப் பங்கை வலியுறுத்தும் வகையில் ஐக்கிய நாடுகள் தினத்தை ஒட்டி அதே நாளில் தினம் நடத்தப்பட்டது. டிஜிட்டல் சகாப்தத்தின் வளர்ச்சியுடன் அன்றைய விளக்கமும் சற்று மாறிவிட்டது. 

டிஜிட்டல் பிரிவிலிருந்து விடுபட்ட இணையம் மற்றும் மொபைல் தொலைபேசிகள் போன்ற நவீன தகவல் தொழில்நுட்பங்கள் மக்களை எச்சரிப்பதிலும் வர்த்தகம் மற்றும் மேம்பாட்டின் பிரச்சினைகளுக்கு தீர்வு காண்பதிலும் ஆற்றக்கூடிய பங்கின் மீது இவை கவனம் செலுத்துகின்றன.

WORLD DEVELOPMENT INFORMATION DAY 2023 - 24TH OCTOBER / உலக வளர்ச்சித் தகவல் தினம் 2023 - 24 அக்டோபர்: World Development Information Day (WDID) is celebrated on the 24th of October every year. The aim of the day is to draw the attention of the world to the development problems and the necessity of strengthening international cooperation for their solutions. 

The day is significant as UNGA believes that improving the dissemination of information and the mobilisation of public opinion would lead to greater awareness of the problems of development, especially among young people.

History of World Development Information Day

WORLD DEVELOPMENT INFORMATION DAY 2023 - 24TH OCTOBER / உலக வளர்ச்சித் தகவல் தினம் 2023 - 24 அக்டோபர்: The measures proposed by the UN Conference on Trade and Development for information dissemination and mobilisation of public opinion relative to trade and development problems, on May 17, 1972 came to be known as resolution 3038 (XXVII).

This Resolution was passed by the UN General Assembly in 1972 to institute World Development Information Day on October 24. The day also coincides with the date of the adoption of the ‘International Development Strategy’ for the Second United Nations Development Decade in 1970.

Significance of World Development Information Day

WORLD DEVELOPMENT INFORMATION DAY 2023 - 24TH OCTOBER / உலக வளர்ச்சித் தகவல் தினம் 2023 - 24 அக்டோபர்: The aim of the World Development Information Day is to explain to the general people as to why it is necessary to strengthen international cooperation to find ways to solve these problems.

The day was held on the same day to coincide with the United Nations Day to stress the central role of development in the UN’s work.

With the development of the digital era the interpretation of the day has slightly changed. These have focussed on the role that modern information technologies, such as the Internet and mobile telephones free from the digital divide, can play in alerting people and finding solutions to problems of trade and development.

According to the UN, Information and Communications technologies have the potential to provide new solutions to the development challenges, in the context of globalisation and can foster economic growth, competitiveness, access to information and knowledge, poverty reduction and social inclusion.

This theme underscores the critical role of science and technology in achieving sustainable development and emphasizes the utilization of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for development purposes.
