கிராண்ட் செஸ் டூர் பட்டம் வென்ற முதல் இந்தியர் பிரக்ஞானந்தா / Praggnanandhaa Becomes First Indian to Win Grand Chess Tour Title

உலகளவில் மிகவும் உயரிய செஸ் தொடர்களில் ஒன்றான கிராண்ட் செஸ் தொடரில் டாப் 10 கிராண்ட் மாஸ்டர்கள் மட்டுமே பங்கேற்பார்கள்.

இந்தத் தொடரின் இறுதிப்போட்டி, அமெரிக்காவின் செயிண்ட் லூயிஸ் நகரில் நடைபெற்றது. 

இந்த இறுதிப் போட்டியில் தமிழ்நாட்டைச் சேர்ந்த பிரக்ஞானந்தாவும் பங்கேற்றிருந்தார். இறுதிப் போட்டியின் முதல் 2 கிளாசிக்கல் சுற்று ஆட்டத்தில் அமெரிக்காவின் கரானாவைவிட 9-3 என்ற புள்ளிகள் கணக்கில் பிரக்ஞானந்தா பின்தங்கியிருந்தார்.

இருப்பினும், ராபிட் சுற்று ஆட்டங்களில் அமெரிக்க வீரர் கரானாவை எதிர்த்து, சிறப்பாக விளையாடி பிரக்ஞானந்தா முன்னிலை பெற்றார். இதனைத் தொடர்ந்து, பிளிட்ஸ் ஆட்டங்களை பிரக்ஞானந்தா டிரா செய்ததால், புள்ளிகள் பகிர்ந்தளிக்கப்பட்டன. 

அடுத்து நடந்த நான்கு பிளிட்ஸ் சுற்றுகளில் சிறப்பாக விளையாடி வெற்றியைத் தன் வசமாக்கியிருக்கிறார் பிரக்ஞானந்தா.

இறுதியாக, 15-13 என்ற கணக்கில் பிரக்ஞானந்தா சாம்பியன் பட்டத்தை வென்றார். இதன் மூலம் கிராண்ட் செஸ் டூர் தொடரில் பட்டம் வென்ற முதல் இந்தியர் என்ற பெருமையையும் பிரக்ஞானந்தா பெற்றார்.

மேலும், சாம்பியன் பட்டம் வென்ற பிரக்ஞானந்தாவிற்கு 2,00,000 டாலர் (சுமார் ரூ.1.91 கோடி) பரிசுத்தொகை வழங்கப்பட்டது.

Only the top 10 Grandmasters participate in the Grand Chess Tour, one of the most prestigious chess series in the world.

The final of this series took place in St. Louis, USA. Praggnanandhaa, hailing from Tamil Nadu, competed in this final. In the first two classical rounds of the final, Praggnanandhaa trailed his American opponent, Caruana, with a score of 9–3.

However, Praggnanandhaa played exceptionally well in the rapid rounds against Caruana and took the lead. Subsequently, as Praggnanandhaa drew the blitz games, the points were shared. He then played brilliantly in the following four blitz rounds to secure victory.

Ultimately, Praggnanandhaa won the championship title with a score of 15–13. With this achievement, he became the first Indian to win a Grand Chess Tour title.

Additionally, Praggnanandhaa was awarded a prize of $200,000 (approximately ₹1.91 crore) for winning the championship.
